Dear Candidate,

I am delighted that you have expressed an interest in applying to be the Chair Designate of The Preliminary Investigation Committee (PIC), which is one of the statutory committees of the RCVS which deals with allegations of professional misconduct against veterinary surgeons. These committees are an essential part of the regulatory arrangements that serve to assure the public that those who give veterinary care to animals are properly qualified and fit to practise. This is a very exciting opportunity to help support us in our long-term commitment to excellent veterinary care.

The RCVS are looking to appoint a vet as Chair Designate of the PIC Committee, to start in February 2019 with a view to taking over in July 2019. This is a significant leadership opportunity and will require the right person to sustain the integrity and independence of the Committee. At the same time, they will facilitate working with others to uphold the College’s statutory role of considering concerns raised against veterinary surgeons. They will also have specific functions in relation to the chairing of meetings, as well as a wider role as leader of the Committee. The time commitment for this role will be around eight days per month.

If this is an opportunity that appeals to you and you believe you have the required skills and knowledge, commitment to the health and welfare of animals and the public interest plus are committed to the seven principles of public life, we would very much like to hear from you.

For a confidential conversation with Thewlis Graham Associates who are managing the process, please contact Sarah Thewlis, Managing Director on 0207 850 4781 or email  Sarah will be happy to discuss this opportunity with you and answer any questions you may have.

Yours sincerely
