Welcome from Diane Nicola - Chief Executive
I am delighted that you have expressed an interest in applying to be the Corporate Fundraising Officer at Age UK Essex. We are locally based and provide services in nearly 250 towns and villages to help older people live well and remain independent in their own homes for longer. We provide an advocacy service, befriending services, information and advice. Our website gives fuller information: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/essex/
Although a Brand Partner of (national) Age UK, we are an independent Charity, and our funding comes primarily from local sources in a highly competitive area.
Before COVID 19 hit in March 2020, Age UK Essex was a thriving local Charity supporting older people through a variety of services, with our paid for services generating a modest surplus to fund our free services including Befriending and Information and Advice. However, COVID 19 has forced the closure of these face to face paid for services, drastically impacting our previously sustainable funding model and meaning we now urgently need to increase our income through fundraising channels if we are to continue to provide crucial free services for older people during the pandemic and beyond.
You will be a key member of the management team, report to the Deputy CEO, and be responsible for devising and implementing a successful corporate programme of engagement, talks and events to an annual agreed income target that will enable Age UK Essex to achieve its overall income generating plans. You will keep me and the Board up to date with your plans and successes.
We are therefore looking for an experienced and successful fundraiser who enjoys building relationships within the corporate sector and delivering against ambitious targets. You will need excellent people skills. You will also need to be able to lead and develop staff and volunteers, act as an ambassador and inspire potential funders.
If this opportunity appeals to you and you have the skills set out in the person specification in this candidate brief, we hope you will get in touch.
