Gray’s Inn welcomes new Under Treasurer - Stephen Cartwright

We are pleased to announce that Brigadier Stephen Cartwright has been appointed as the Under Treasurer to succeed Tony Harking on Friday 7 October 2022.

Stephen has served in the British Army for the last 36 years, with operational service in Northern Ireland, the Gulf war, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya. He was awarded an OBE for his meritorious service on operations in Afghanistan, having commanded The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland. His last appointments were commanding the British Military Mission in Saudi Arabia and the British Support Team in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Stephen commented: “It is a huge privilege to be selected to the position of Under Treasurer. I look forward enormously to working with the staff, the students, the Membership and the Benchers to deliver the Inn’s educational and charitable objectives, and playing my part in maintaining Gray’s Inn’s excellent reputation throughout the UK and internationally”.
