REC: Report on Jobs: Uncertainty around the outlook leads to further caution around hiring

Greater economic uncertainty, pressure on clients' budgets and low candidate numbers all dampened hiring activity at the end of 2022, according to the latest KPMG and REC, UK Report on Jobs survey, compiled by S&P Global. Permanent placements fell for the third month in a row, and at the quickest rate since the start of 2021, while billings for temp staff rose only modestly. Read the full report within.

REC: Jobs Outlook - January 2023 - Anticipated demand for agency workers continues to rise

In October-December 2022, business confidence in the UK economy rose by 2% to net: -68 from net: -70 in the previous rolling quarter. Employers in December (net: -65) were more optimistic than in November (net: -71) and October (net: -68). Employers’ confidence in making hiring and investment, on the other hand, fell by 1% compared to the previous rolling quarter. At net: -30, the barometer has been in negative territory for 9 months.
